Excellent wine knowledge is necessary to compete for this position. A passion for wine and customer service are integral to success in this position. The Sr. Buyer is responsible for the acquisition of massive new product selection and the Sr. Buyer will work to build out entirely new selections from the ground up. Responsibilities will include sourcing leads, defining and tuning a leads qualification process, and calling on vendors directly, both from our Santa Rosa corporate offices and in the field. The Sr. Buyer must demonstrate a deep and broad experience with the Wine segment, as well as demonstrated ability in Buying. Key areas of responsibility include among others: negotiation of agreements with a wide set of vendors, inventory planning, catalog management, supply chain and logistics Best Practices, market research and a strong knowledge of current market trends, persuasive selling of the platform and the value proposition of Provino's offerings.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will have 5-7 years of relevant market experience and can demonstrate a proven track record in growing new initiatives or new lines of business. Candidates must exhibit keen analytical skills, very high judgment, and the ability to act autonomously. Candidates must also be flexible, action and results oriented, and comfortable with computer databases and tools. Given the level of responsibility and impact to this new business, experience as a Divisional Merchandising Manager or Sr. Buyer is a good gauge of responsibility. This position has a light travel requirement and Sr. Buyers should expect some travel during peak periods. MBA or technology background are valuable assets.
Base Salary + bonuses & benefits. 40 hours per week, plus wine tastings and wine dinners, (lots of fun, but usually not on the clock).
